Kabwata Cultural Village, Lusaka

Interesting place. I couldn't believe I was still in Lusaka. The houses don't look like a man-made place for tourists at all. The vendors are even more diligent now during the pandemic, but they will let you leave their shop without any problem and I also recommend haggling about the price, even if the prices are not high. We were here on a Sunday and there were hardly any tourists, but not much merchandise either as the vendors bring their wares to the Sunday market at the Arcades Mall.

Zambian handicrafts at Kabwata Cultural Village, a traditional-style trade center with thatched-roof huts. With 80 resident artists from nine Zambian provinces, the village offers a good variety of wood carvings, weaved baskets, bijou, masks, drums, and traditionally designed fabrics. A remnant and reminder of the colonial era when this area was dotted with similar dwellings, the center was purchased by the Zambian government in an effort to preserve the region's traditional lifestyle. You can observe craftsman working on their products, and during the holidays the site features live performers. You'll find a traditional restaurant in the village as well.
