The waterfall is named in honor of Queen Victoria of Britain by a Scottish missionary, who perceived his discovery only as an obstacle to his preaching of Christianity to the whole of the African continent. Also called Mosi-oa-Tunya, "the smoke that thunders," by the local people, the falls extend 1,708 m (5,604 ft) across and 108 m (354 ft) in height. Truly breathtaking! This majestic waterfall is a must do not just if you in the area but in general. There’s a stark contrast in what you see and experience depending on how full the Zambezi river is which varies throughout the year. Truly amazing. Make sure you get a poncho !

The falls are amazing. If you’re able to visit at any point in your life you should definitely visit. We stayed on the Zambian side and visited in May when the falls was in it’s full glory. It was a wonderful experience that words cannot do Justice.
