Sydney, Australia to Malealea is an approximately 23.5-hour combination of flight and car. The time zone difference moving from Australian Eastern Standard Time (AEST) to South Africa Standard Time (SAST) is minus 8 hours. Traveling from Sydney in February, Malealea is a bit cooler at night with lows of 19°C. On the 15th (Wed), you'll travel to Maseru.

Founded in 1869 by the British, Lesotho's main city--Maseru--lies on the border with South Africa on a plateau surrounded by red hills.

Drive from Malealea to Maseru in 1.5 hours. In February in Maseru, expect temperatures between 28°C during the day and 19°C at night. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 19th (Sun) to allow time to drive to Butha-Buthe.

Butha-Buthe is the capital city or camptown of the Butha-Buthe District in Lesotho. Take a break from Butha-Buthe with a short trip to Mafika Lisiu Pass in Pitseng, about 50 minutes away. There's still lots to do: explore the landscape on two wheels at Afriski Mountain Resort and Head underground at Liphofung Caves.

Traveling by car from Maseru to Butha-Buthe takes 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of bus and car. Traveling from Maseru in February, plan for little chillier nights in Butha-Buthe, with lows around 16°C. You'll set off for Semonkong on the 22nd (Wed).
