On the 1st (Wed), admire the masterpieces at Vatican Museums, don't miss a visit to St. Peter's Basilica, then make a trip to Piazza Navona, and finally enjoy breathtaking views from Museo Nazionale di Castel Sant'Angelo. On the next day, explore the ancient world of Palatine Hill, steep yourself in history at Colosseum, explore the ancient world of Pantheon, then ponder the design of Trevi Fountain, and finally don't miss a visit to Spanish Steps.

If you are flying in from United States, the closest major aiports are Leonardo da Vinci–Fiumicino Airport, Ciampino–G. B. Pastine International Airport and Perugia San Francesco d'Assisi – Umbria International Airport. In June, plan for daily highs up to 84°F, and evening lows to 65°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 3rd (Fri) early enough to drive to Pescasseroli.

Pescasseroli is a town and comune in the province of L'Aquila, in Southern Abruzzo, central Italy.A summer and winter resort, it is today the headquarters of the Abruzzo National Park. Get out of town with these interesting Pescasseroli side-trips: Santuario dell'Addolorata di Castelpetroso (in Castelpetroso), International War Museum of the World Wars (in Rocchetta Nuova) and Cassino (Monte Cassino & Monte Cassino Polish War Cemetery). Spend the 3rd (Fri) exploring nature at Parco nazionale d'Abruzzo, Lazio e Molise.
