Each year more than half a million people enjoy the musical performances at Palace of Catalan Music, which was placed on the World Heritage List in 1997. Designed by architect Domenech i Montaner, this exquisitely ornamented structure was built between 1905 and 1908, and originally served as home to the Orfeo Catalá musical society. Widely regarded as a masterpiece of Catalan architecture, the building is a fine example of the Modernist style, featuring elements made of tiles, stones, and bricks. Try to attend a concert, but at the very least arrange to join a guided tour of the site’s famous auditorium, known for its blue-gold stained glass skylight and the sculpture of Wagner’s Valkyries. • Instead of doing a tour, I decided to come and see a concert here and I'm so glad I did. I"m sure there is a lot of information to be learned on the tour but personally, I wanted to experience it...

  • This is a music/concert venue but we went just for a tour of the very impressive building. We did a self guided tour which was very good. It is a very ornately decorated interior and exterior. It is very impressive and was well worth visiting. I would say max time one hour for self tour. We both enjoyed it.
  • Beautiful building, interior is a must see really. We booked a concert and I'm a little sad we didn't also do the day tour to have more time to look around and take pictures. But the concert was really nice, I would spring for slightly better tickets than the cheapest next time, it was pretty quiet in the middle of the top balcony.
