Visit a tropical oasis in the outskirts of the capital at Seychelles National Botanical Gardens, teeming with rare and endemic plant life. Established over a century ago, the gardens stand as one of the oldest national treasures of the Seychelles, extending across 2 hectares (5 acres) of undisturbed flourishing plant species. Walk beneath the shady canopies of rare palms, observe the spice and fruit trees, and snap photos of the vibrant palette of native orchids. Keep an eye out for the gardens' Aldabra giant tortoises, which can live up to 150 years. A convenient cafe offers welcome refreshment amidst rainforest scenery. • Lovely gardens to walk around, quite well organised with lots of signs, we found that it was more about the architecture of the trees and bushes than the flowers, well worth a visit.

  • Small, but well planned botanical gardens with luxuriant vegetation, land tortoises, elephant apples and various palm trees. Just a nice way to spend a few hours and learn about the local flora.

  • Although the garden is small and the ticket expensive (250 SCR/person), I did not regret visiting it. There are many plant species that you can see there and of course the bats and birds and the big turtles 🐢 that are so cute and you can feed them with green leaves. When I visited the garden, I could only pay by card, the car parking next to the entrance was free and the garden was closing at 3.30pm.
  • Lush trees and greenery, nice to visit, feels very natural and organic. Many trees and shrubbery and real soil under it all. Both paved and grassy paths to traverse. Includes a giant turtle enclosure/sanctuary which was good to experience
