Standing on a hilltop offering a spectacular view of the city, Kristiansten Fortress originally served in the 17th century as a city defense wall. During World War II, the occupying German forces used it as an execution site. Tour the defense museum within the main building, the Donjon. The former commandant's residence now houses a full restaurant, and activity trails are available for children. Wear comfortable shoes to walk to the fortress and pack a light jacket. It was a raining day we visited, not many visitors but enjoyed seeing how it was built and its placement overlooking the city. Local bus passes the site.

Visit Trondheim! More importantly, visit Christiansted Fort. Best view in Trondheim, hands down. When enjoying the view, be sure to visit Odin at the fort’s cafe. Great panoramic views. Great local.... more

I liked the place. It has a huge space and a very lovely pedestrain road. The view is wonderful and you can various parts of the city too. Pretty nice place

Great view of the town, you can walk for free around the fortress. The building itself was not open. There are toilets. Some history happened here..
