This is only a review of my Christmas Tree shopping experience. We wanted to buy our tree a bit earlier than is traditional for Norway. We were directed to Håland Hagesenter because "they always have the freshest trees." Several people told us they bought their trees early December and they lasted until January. We'll be lucky if ours lasts until Christmas. When we bought the tree we were told it had just been cut down the day before on Tau. First clue of a bad tree should have been seeing the trunk. They shaved the bark up over 20cm. Much higher than could have been submerged in our tree-stand. I believe this may have had a "girdling" effect on the tree. Second clue of a bad tree was that after we got it home and gave it water, it literally sucked the pot dry in a few short hours. It took 24 after acclimatizing for it to only drink a few cm per 1/2 day. Third clue should have been the amount of needles on our floor in just the first few days. By the end of the first week the top of our tree was so dry just brushing it with your hand would strip it of needles. Now, just a few days before Christmas, our tree is drooping considerably and not a single branch has any life or spring to it. It's all bone dry. Just hope it doesn't catch fire. :p In contrast our friends, who bought a tree at Coop Bygg a week after us, still have a lovely, green, springy tree... and they paid around 250kr for a 2.5M tree. We paid 700kr for about 2M. This is the first and last time I'll buy a tree from Håland.
