Lofotr Viking Museum
Join a Viking feast, row an authentic Viking longboat, or learn how to throw an axe at Lofotr Viking Museum. Established at the site of a Viking village excavated during the 1980s, the museum features a chieftain's house, a blacksmith's forge, and a wide outdoor area crossed by gravel walking paths. Two full-scale replicas of the Gokstad ship are anchored on the lake. See original handicrafts as well as historical reenactments of Viking life. The smell of the bonfire and tar, and the stories told by costumed actors, will transport you back to ancient times. The new building houses two exhibition halls and a cinema. Audio guides are available in six languages. Plan your Lofotr Viking Museum visit and explore what else you can see and do in Bostad using our Bostad trip builder app.

Expected to have more informative history on the life of Vikings. Exhibits were not very informative or interesting. Museum has also an outside area, but there wasn't much to see either. Perhaps...

Great museum. Very interactive and for all ages: they had Medieval board games and props to put on. I learned a lot and I would like to return. The people were all dressed in Medieval clothes and they were very friendly. Outside of the museum are 2 viking age ships and a place where shows are organized. I recommend this museum to anyone that is interested in the Viking Age and in Scandinavian History in general.

Excellent Viking Museum with plenty to see and do. We enjoyed the short film and the excellent exhibition in the main building away from the reception area. Good shop and restaurant for making some purchases or having a refreshment.
