ALAYDI CRAFT CENTRE was founded in 1979 by the jordan alumni of the lebanese American University, previously, Beirut College for Women, to start a Scholarship Fund for desrving Jordanian students. Dropped by this cute and charming shop while on holiday from Malaysia. Ahmed, the person fronting the store, was very friendly and welcoming. The fact that monies spent here goes towards supporting Jordanian craftsmen, artisans, and scholars make this place extra special. My teen daughter Ranya was especially happy with her mug. :)

Ahmed, the cultivated shop keeper, is an innate story teller. Enjoy! The shop is comfy and has beautiful articles. I loved the nacre boxes in particular. Rugs are sold for reasonable prices.
