Create an itinerary including Basilica di San Zeno Maggiore
Dedicated to the town's patron saint, Basilica di San Zeno Maggiore mesmerizes visitors with its flower-filled cloister and ornate interior lined with painstakingly restored frescoes. Built in 1123-35, this masterpiece of Romanesque architecture serves as the final resting place of St Zeno, whose masked corpse occupies the transparent sarcophagus beneath the main altar. According to tradition, the brooding crypt was the site of the marriage of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. Pay attention to meticulously crafted bronze doors under the rose window and Mantegna's altarpiece depicting Madonna on the throne. • Beautiful basilica a bit at the outskirt of the old town, but a nice walk on the wall at the river bank.

  • Unique structure combining roman and gothic architecture styles. The only 2 floored church I've visited, with access to the crypt dedicated to San Zeno from the main floor. A curious place to visit while in Verona.
  • A very beautiful church. I recommend taking the combined ticket at a cost of €6 which also includes three other churches. It is absolutely worth it if you are in Verona
