Typical, but beautiful Commonwealth War Graves Cemetery situated in the countryside less than 1km from the Thiepval Memorial. 1,268 men are buried here, half of them unknown. Amongst them lie many men of the 36th (Ulster) Division who fell on the 1st July 1916 during the assault on Thiepval Ridge. The memorial to the 36th Division, the Ulster Tower is just 100 metres away. A second Commonwealth Cemetery, Mill Road lies in the opposite field.
