At Abbaye de Jumieges are the impressive ruins of a Benedictine monastery, which ended after over 1,000 years with the French Revolution. The ruins are made up of the church, with its beautiful twin towers and western facade, and portions of the cloisters and library. A 500-year-old yew tree still stands in the middle of the former cloister. Choose to start, finish, or center your holiday on a trip to Abbaye de Jumieges by using our Jumieges road trip app.

  • Lovely ruins that accentuate the vastness and magnitude of the Abbey from its original condition, with much more light, wind, and birds flying through. The Abbey feels like mystical and romantic ruins that are waiting to be discovered. Really enjoyed my visit, and it was a great break from other attractions.
  • A place sure worth visiting. We were intrigued by the history of the ruins and nature. The information leaflet we received upon entry was helpful to grasp the richness and magnitude of the abbey. The house at the far end did not meet our expectations, but we were happy to have walked down there anyway. For parents: better to use a baby carrier than a stroller to make sure you can get around the entire terrain.
