Near the Belgian border, ValJoly is an artificial lake and relaxing getaway. You can enjoy a number of activities and services that vary depending on the season. Along the shores of the largest lake north of Paris, you can find everything from secluded accommodations to outdoor activities to a covered aquatic center, as well as restaurants and shops. This makes a nice starting point for exploring the Avesnois. This lake was created with a dam to help regulate the flow of the Helpe Majeure, and it's also is a hydropower source. This park is a beautiful space in the middle of nowhere. Many nice walks and cycling routes but unfortunately fishing and swimming in the lake is not allowed.
