Visit the oldest public park in Australia, Hyde Park. From the very early days of the colony, the open area was a top spot for sports such a cricket, rugby, and even organized bare-knuckle fights. Today, it remains an ideal spot for a morning jog or a stroll among fig-lined avenues in the park. The gardens are well-kept and home to approximately 580 trees. There are many monuments to stop and see, such as the Archibald Fountain, the ANZAC War Memorial, an obelisk with Egyptian features, and a monument to Captain James Cook. You can do what the locals like to do, grab a latte, people watch, or read a book on the grass. It couldn't be easier to arrange your visit to Hyde Park and many more Sydney attractions: make an itinerary online using Inspirock's Sydney day trip website.

Beautiful old established park. It is a scenic thoroughfare, with awe inspiring fig trees. The famous Archibald fountain in the middle is always worth a look, even after seeing it so many times before. There is also a war memorial building within the park which houses a small museum. Quite a few people frequent Hyde Park , yet it maintains a perfectly tranquil feel.
