Sydney Harbour National Park
Visit tranquil islands and sheltered beaches, and get a grip on the rich pre- and post-colonial history of New South Wales at Sydney Harbour National Park. You can learn about Sydney’s past on a guided tour, getting a taste of rich Indigenous, colonial, and military heritage, as well as enjoying the natural aquatic reserves and archipelagos. The park itself offers excellent swimming spots, hiking trails, and rest areas, with the cultural intrigue of seeing Indigenous reburial sites where ancestral remains have been returned. Observe native wildlife as you gaze out over the ocean--if here in winter, you might even see whales on their annual migration. The Sydney Harbour National Park is a gem just a couple of hour drive or train ride from the city of Sydney. It was a great experience to hike and see amazing scenic points in between, beautiful coastal walk and beautiful beaches. The hike to the Figure 8 Pool requires moderate fitness level and a must do while in Sydney. Don’t forget to check the tides before you go. Some people also camp there to explore the whole National Park which should be a great experience if you’re a camper. If not, you can do day trips to explore the different parts of the park. Highly recommend it.

Parking can be tricky, but aside from that, this is a wonderful Harbourside location. There it’s plentiful shade, lots of nice grassed area, well maintained bathroom facilities as well as outdoor showers if you’re there for a swim.
