Fremantle Prison
On the UNESCO World Heritage List as one of 11 Australian Convict Sites, Fremantle Prison paints a vivid image of the country's penal-colony history. Convicts built the prison in the 1850s. Today you can explore the prison on a guided tour, including a torch-lit option. Navigate tunnels 20 m (65 ft) beneath the ground on foot and by boat. The prison art gallery sells pieces created by current and ex-prisoners in Western Australia. Fantastic tour!! Wow what a great day. We came here on the spur of the moment and loved it. We were able to book a tour without pre booking which was so handy. We booked the "Behind Bars" which covered the history of the jail. Our tour guide James was amazing 👏 Such an informative and knowledgeable tour guide with a great personality. James knew how to keep us interested and his jail trivia was fascinating. Thanks James!! 😊 Free parts are available for viewing by the public including the art gallery. The art is contributed by current inmates of WA. Highly recommend giving the jail a visit and doing a tour.

Our family thoroughly enjoyed the day. We did 2 of the 3 available tours and the information didn't have much cross over, which was good. We thought it was good value for the day; $124 for 6 of us: 2 adults & 3 kids (great that their family price is for 2 adults & 3 kids as well, as usually it's only for 2 kids). Having a large family We appreciated this.
