Geographe Bay, Dunsborough

Named in 1801 after a French explorer’s ship, Geographe Bay is a wide curve of the coast extending from Cape Naturaliste to the city of Bunbury. Sheltered from the rough seas and featuring some of the shallowest waters found along this part of the coastline, the bay is a popular destination for recreational boaters. Visit the Busselton Jetty, the longest wooden structure in the Southern Hemisphere and one of the landmarks of the bay, for numerous photo opportunities at sunset or sunrise. You can also surf in the bay, as well as explore several whale-watching spots. Adventure seekers can visit the wreck of an Australian Navy frigate, sunk in the bay in 1997, which is one of the area’s popular dive spots.
