Featuring large waves and surfing competitions, Waimea Bay hugs a powdery beach bordered by tropical greenery. Depending on the weather, the ocean can be completely calm, or you can encounter 15 m (50 ft) waves. Visit the beach to lounge in the sun or have a picnic, or walk through the nearby gardens and look at the waterfalls. When the water is calm, you can also swim and snorkel. Beware of the local tradition of rock-jumping--although many visitors do it, the local authorities strictly advise against it. Parking space at the site is very limited. One of my favorite beach destinations. Big sand beach. Picturesque with the most beautiful wave action. Family friendly waters on a calm day and 30'-40' waves on stormy days for just wave and extreme surfer watching. Facilities and shower on site.
One of the best beaches on Oahu. Great place to surf or watch surfers. It also is a great beach to bring the kiddos to play in the waves. They have a lifeguard on duty and bathrooms. Not a lot of parking but you can park up the road if there is nothing in the lot.
