Sitting on flat land between two chains of scenic mountains and close to the Tigris River, Duhok has experienced a growth in tourism in recent years.
Explore Duhok's surroundings by going to Zakho Bridge. (in Zakho) and Rabban Hormizd Monastery (in Al Qush). There's still lots to do: take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Zawa Mountain, buy something for everyone on your list at Mazi Plus Mall, get to know the resident critters at Duhok Zoo, and stroll around Zari Park.

Considered one of the most cosmopolitan and westernized cities in Iraq, vibrant Sulaymaniyah boasts a strong cultural scene with a good selection of museums and educational institutions.

Karbala is a city in central Iraq, located about 100km southwest of Baghdad, and a few miles east of Lake Milh. Change things up with these side-trips from Karbala: Najaf (Shrine Amir al-mo'menin Ali bin Abi Talib peace be upon him & Wadi Al-Salaam Cemetery), Kufa (House of Imam Ali Ibn Abi Taleb, Al Sahlah Great Mosque, &more) and Babylon (in Al Hillah).
