Nestled between the coast of Galway Bay and the hills of the Burren, the small, scenic harbor village of Ballyvaughan serves as a hub for exploring the region.
Kick off your visit on the 15th (Sat): get outside with Backwest Adventures, then contemplate the long history of Gleninsheen Wedge Tomb, and then contemplate the long history of Caherconnell Stone Fort & Sheepdog Demonstrations. Here are some ideas for day two: admire the natural beauty at Caher Bridge Garden, then get great views at Black Head, then explore the fascinating underground world of Aillwee Cave, and finally identify plant and animal life at Burren Birds of Prey Centre.

Before you visit Ballyvaughan, use our trip planner to discover what you can do and see there.

Dublin to Ballyvaughan is an approximately 2.5-hour car ride. You can also take a train; or take a bus. In February in Ballyvaughan, expect temperatures between 10°C during the day and 3°C at night. Finish your sightseeing early on the 16th (Sun) so you can drive back home.
