Kick off your visit on the 10th (Sun): steep yourself in history at Zoravor S. On the 11th (Mon), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: take in the spiritual surroundings of Saghmosavank Monastery, pause for some serene contemplation at Hovhannavank Monastery, take in the architecture and atmosphere at Karmravor Church, pause for some serene contemplation at Saint Gayane Church, then steep yourself in history at The Churches of Echmiatsin and the Archaeological Site of Zvartnots, and finally take in the architecture and atmosphere at Saint Hripsime Church.

On the bank of the Mtkvari River and at the foot of Trialeti mountain range, Tbilisi's location has given the city strategic significance since it was founded in the 5th century.
State Museum of Theatre, Music and Cinema and Open Air Museum of Ethnography will appeal to museum buffs. Get some historical perspective at The City-Museum Reserve of Mtskheta and Ananuri Fortified Castle Ensemble. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Tbilisi: Ikalto Monastery Complex (in Ikalto), David Gareja Monastery (in Udabno) and Mtskheta (Samtavro Church & Shio-Mgvime Monastery). There's lots more to do: pause for some serene contemplation at Kashveti Church, examine the collection at J.Stalin's Underground Printing House Museum, explore the galleries of Tsinandali Palace, and make a trip to Cathedral of St. George.

You can fly from Yerevan to Tbilisi in 3.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. Expect somewhat warmer temperatures when traveling from Yerevan in January; daily highs in Tbilisi reach 44°F and lows reach 31°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 18th (Mon) to allow time to travel to Goreme.

The capital of Iraqi Kurdistan, Erbil occupies perhaps the longest-inhabited land in the world, with the earliest human settlement here possibly dating back to 5000 BCE.
Step off the beaten path and head to Kurdish Textile Museum and Sami Abdulrahman Park. Get some cultural insight at Erbil Citadel and Rashad Mufti Mosque. There's still lots to do: contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Jalil Khayat and his Children's Mosque, stop by Yummy ice cream, walk around Minaret Park, and get engrossed in the history at Syriac Heritage Museum.
