While it may seem like a regular fishing port at first glance, Cape Coast bears traces of the Portuguese, British, Danish, Swedish, and the Dutch colonists who variously ruled here.
Do some cultural sightseeing at Elmina Castle and Cape Coast Castle. Your inner history buff will appreciate Fort Metal Cross and Fort William. Venture out of the city with trips to Ancestral Slave River Park (in Assin Manso), Fort Batenstein (in Butre) and Busua Beach (in Busua). Spend the 20th (Fri) exploring nature at Kakum National Park. And it doesn't end there: contemplate the long history of Fort San Sebastian, go for a stroll along the water at Elmina lagoon, don't miss a visit to Fort Amsterdam, and stroll through Monkey Forest Resort.

A monumental number of archaeological relics from ancient Egypt remain evident in Luxor, the former capital of the New Kingdom.
Museum-lovers will get to explore Karnak Open Air Museum and Le Scarabe Papyrus Museum. Step off the beaten path and head to Tomb of Queen Nefertari and Ramesseum (Mortuary Temple of Ramses II). There's still lots to do: explore the ancient world of Temple of Karnak, take in the spiritual surroundings of Luxor Temple, stroll the grounds of Valley of the Kings, and contemplate the long history of Howard Carter House.

You can fly from Accra to Luxor in 12 hours. Alternatively, you can drive. Due to the time zone difference, you'll lose 2 hours traveling from Accra to Luxor. Finish your sightseeing early on the 27th (Fri) to allow enough time to travel to Cairo.
