Casa Batllo, Barcelona

4.6
Located in the bustling city center and considered one of architect Antoni Gaudí’s signature works, Casa Batllo can perhaps best be described as a combination of Modernist and Art Nouveau architecture. Gaudí’s design goal seems to have been to avoid straight lines—completely. Much of the facade is decorated with mosaics made of broken ceramic tiles, ranging in shades from golden orange to greenish blue. The roof is arched and often described as resembling the back of a dragon or dinosaur, so it’s not surprising that most locals call the building "House of Bones." Originally built for a middle-class urban family, this is one of two Gaudí houses available for touring. Skip the lines by booking your tickets online. • Beautiful to see especially thanks to augmented reality! Very busy and we recommend booking on Line both because then cheap and because there is always a row!

  • Essential place to visit and get to know a little about Gaudí's art, it is a place that captivates by its design, architecture, materials and forms that compose it., with excellent attention from the staff and the audio guide phenomenal with support of a cell phone that shows you how it was this wonderful place, in addition to amazing and mind-blowing things that you see of the different shapes used by the artist, such as a fungus, chimney frame, or the shell of a turtle in the stained glass, snails on the ceiling and many, many more things.

  • Was a bit hesitant because of the price (€22 for students) but as an architecture student, I felt I owed it to my education to go. It was definitely worth it! Beautiful building, the audio guide was informative and just all around a great curated experience. Highly recommended!
  • That case when the site from outside looks more impressive than inside. Have no idea why the entrance fee is so high. Good news for all of you - since summer 2019 all the renovation works are over and facade is visible and shining as never :)
