Alofaaga Blowholes, Savai'i

#1 of 12 in Things to do in Savai'i
Created by a series of ancient lava tubes connected to the ocean below, Alofaaga Blowholes is a marvelous natural feature that occurs whenever waves break against the lower tube openings. Watch water spray upwards through these blowholes every few seconds and jet hundreds of feet into the air. Exercise caution when you visit and keep an eye on children, as the attraction is unfenced and the rocks are slippery. Locals often drop coconuts into the blowholes to send them flying. • Beautifully view of the coast and interesting natural show. Be patient as it comes and goes. Didn't see anyone doing the "coconut show" but still enjoyed watching the magic of nature.  more »

  • Super cool. Go get and don’t miss it! 5 Tala to get in.
  • Amazing place. Quite isolated, but well worth the visit. We cycled around Savai'i and this was the natural highlight.
