  • It is a relatively large island that is more than an hour away by car. There is only a natural island and nature. The impression that the vegetation is abundant and changes considerably depending on the place. Even if it is near, i feel that it has different vegetation from the Philippines and Indonesia again. There are few restaurants or shops on the island, so it is necessary to prepare for the island of Koror to some extent. If you're going from Koror to the north end, you'll be able to go clockwise clockwise.

  • Getting around Palau can be done either by air, boat or car. On Koror, most major roads are paved and many times in better condition than here at home in Sweden. Some work is being completed on the roads of Babeldaob, which is located on the northern part of Palau. If you have advice, you can rent a helicopter and carry out a scenic flight over the Skogbeklädda Korallöarna, or a sightseeing and visit the cultural and historical sites which is convenient with a rental car. I rented a car to be able to take me around this örike. The staff were very friendly and helpful. A small light blue Nissan Cube was run up to me, the cost of the rent was about 70 U.S. dollars per day inclusive insurance. On the vehicles in Palau, the wheel is on the right side of the car, unlike the vehicles in Sweden, otherwise the right is valid in the country. The traffic is calm and you are almost alone on the roads when you leave Koror. The speed limits are from 25 to 40 mph and the big roads are really good. When driving on the northern part of the island it is important to understand that the roads are not ready yet and it can be a very rough journey. The roads are even harder to get around after the rain that often falls down in the afternoons. Gravel roads often consist of steep slopes and many crooked turns. With a fyrhjulsdriven car you should still be able to get around in most places even if it is muddy and gropigt. I took the time the night before to find out the interesting places on the map that I wanted to visit on the following day. It is incredibly difficult to find the different places you want to see when they are not excellent with signs in the terrain. A good way is to locate a local interpreter among the residents nearby at the place you intend to visit. They are friendly and helpful and feel a pride in being able to tell more than I could read me in the information that is otherwise found at the tourist office in Koror. While Koror offers shopping and museums, BABELDAOB is full of cultural/historical treasures, from the famous Badrulchau or stone monolithes, to old terraces and stone faces. Hear the legends and history of these places from a local guide and wonder about the past times. BABELDAOB's terrain transforms gracefully from steep mountains to freshwater lakes to dunes along the longest natural beach of Palau.
