Jostedalsbreen National Park, Western Norway

Jostedalsbreen National Park (Norwegian: Jostedalsbreen nasjonalpark) is a national park in Norway that encompasses the largest glacier on the European mainland, Jostedalsbreen. The park was established by royal decree on 25 October 1991, and then in 1998, it was enlarged to the northwest. The park now covers 1,310 square kilometres (510 sq mi), with the glaciers covering about 800 square kilometres (310 sq mi) of the park.

  • We booked a hiking tour to the ice cave at the glacier, unfortunately the ice on the frozen lake was not thick enough to cross through to enter the ice cave / glacier. Overall, it was an awesome...  more »
  • Loved it. Such amazing glaciers that you can get very close too, plenty on easy walks, clear wAter and delicious wild raspberries to eat!  more »
  • Beautiful nature. There are marks on the road so you can see where the ice was in the past. Definitely wort to visit
  • Fantastic to see glacier. Bit of steep climb to get to viewing point. Hat, gloves, warm clothes and waterproofs needed.
