Peniamina's Grave commemorates the man who brought Christianity to the country. When Nukai Peniamina went away to Samoa in 1846 to learn to read and write, Christianity took over. He was attacked and treated with disdain after his return. Today, he represents a movement of peace and love, and Peniamina’s Day has become a national holiday in October. A plaque next to the grave explains the events preceding his death in detail.
