This beautiful sanctuary is worth the 1/2 drive from Rotorua into the valley. Fresh geothermal waters flow into the naturally heated pools, excavated into the hillside. It was freezing and rainy when.... more »
Nice pools to relax at, but not much to be done there. when you walk in you walk past some natural streams which look very nice and hot and natural but the pools themselves don't look or feel very natural. the pools are quite small as well so it can get crowded (it wasn't too bad when we were there). they also charge $2 for a locker which is a bit of a bummer although there are shelves to leave your bag which feels secure enough when its not too busy, be wary though.
Great place to relax. It's a bit of a drive, but totally worth it to avoid the masses. Nice selection of pools at different temperatures, so there is something for everyone. There is a shop on the site also that sells snacks, drinks and ice creams which is really handy. Loved it, highly recommend.
