Museu De Historia Natural de Maputo, Maputo

#2 of 8 in Museums in Maputo
Natural History Museum · Museum
Apart from the usual displays expected at such facilities, Museu De Historia Natural de Maputo exhibits some rather spooky dioramas with taxidermy specimens, as well as a collection of bleached elephant fetuses. The displays occupy a charming colonial building, originally built for a school but turned into a museum in 1933. The museum also features a small ethnology exhibit. • This is an interesting natural history museum with impressive exhibitions of wildlife in Mozambique. A very interesting part is a small etnographic section on different peoples of Mozambique.  more »
  • As all this kind of museum, there are a lot of taxidermists animal exemples! If you are in Maputo and have time, is a good option to pass time!  more »
  • Brilliant! Lovely building, full of old stuffed animals. Well worth a visit.
  • Since some of the specimens are more than 100 years old, they desperately need fresh collection. Part of it was closed for public and entry ticket was very reasonable at 50 meticals for everyone.
