  • A must for those interested in the Mozambican/ colonial history. The place is well preserved and tourists should consider at least one visit when coming to Maputo. However I would recommend visiting during daylight hours between 10;00 AM to 12:00 AM and try to visit with a local guide or local friends. You should by all by all means necessary try to park your vehicle in a secure paying parking area under guard or negotiate with parking guards in the street to monitor your vehicle during your visit to the Fortress. For peace of mind rather use local taxi services and arrange with the driver to collect you at a set time..enjoy the Fortress and be safe.
  • Small and impressive fortress, a reminder of Portuguese history at maputo. It has some exhibits about the local resistance and cannons lying everywhere. Entry ticket is 50 meticals for everyone which is reasonable.
