Riga Ghetto and Latvian Holocaust Museum tells the story of 70,000 people forced to live and work behind barbed wire, only to be tortured and massacred in the end. The museum outlines ghetto life between 1941 and 1943; here you'll observe photos of those who were held and walk the same alleys that they once walked. You'll also discover more about the volunteers who bravely struggled to help Jews escape the ghetto. At the tourist information center you can ask for a guided tour, which provides an in-depth history of the site, detailed descriptions, and clarifications of historical data. Note that the museum includes outdoor exhibits, so dress accordingly. Use Inspirock's suggestions to plan your Riga trip and find the best activities and attractions for your vacation.

  • A place a little out of the way with a wagon in its course. You are there it is the museum of the ghetto. You are greeted by a charming gentleman who gives you an explanation of the FREE visit. A place full of history and to complete everything nothing better than to stroll around the neighborhood!

  • I visited the Ghetto on the 80th Anniversary of the start of WW2 and the subsequent TV programmes all made had a little bit more understand. Seeing this was very humbling and educational. Seeing the stories of people and how they lived was eye opening.
  • Very good site to share information on your history of this horrific event in our lifetime. Displays had a silent effect on me as I reviewed the details of what took place. This is an open and free museum to visit. Worth the time if one has the time.
