Piazza Navona, Rome

4.6
Noisy and vibrant, Piazza Navona is the hub of artistic and commercial activity in this part of the city. Known for its Baroque architecture, alfresco restaurants, ornate fountains, and street artists, the square attracts visitors from around the world. The centerpiece is an elaborate fountain--representing the rivers Nile, Ganges, Danube, and Plate-- created by Baroque sculptor Gianlorenzo Bernini. A massive, ancient obelisk tops the fountain. Artists Giacomo della Porta and Antonio della Bitta sculpted the two smaller fountains here. The plaza was built in the first century on the site of a former arena where ancient Romans came to watch various competitions. • Going to Rome and not going to Piazza Navona is impossible. In the evening with the lights it has a charm all its own. Pity for the great confusion due to the considerable crowding

  • It's a cheap visit, walking around the square and observing the fountains the most famous is that of the four rivers (Ganges, of the silver, Nile and Danube), besides in the surroundings you can go to the church of Santa Ines in Agonia, there are some restaurants a little expensive for my taste , but it's nice maybe sitting on the sidewalk, drinking something and watching life go by in Rome.

  • Such beautiful place to visit. It's one of most beautiful places in Rome..both day and night have their own unique beauty.. Really worth the visit.. It's full of restaurants in this area.. Most of the days there's also street performers here. Highly recommended
  • Amazing place. The fountains are so good and detailed. Its pedestrian zone and kinda hidden. So beautiful at night, and full with tourists daytime. Many restaurants with a nice view and different street performers.
