Immerse yourself in the world of Persian carpets and rugs at Carpet Museum of Iran. As you approach, note the holed structure surrounding the building's exterior walls, meant to resemble a carpet loom. Designed by the last queen of Iran, the museum houses over 100 exhibition pieces, some dating back to the 16th century. Explore the various patterns and regional styles, and learn about the art of carpet-weaving. Look for the carpet depicting the tree of life. The museum also boasts a library with 7,000 books. • The modern structure does not do justice to a museum that offers more than a surprise. Of course you have to know how to appreciate the art of weaving to fully enjoy the works on display, of which the oldest has several centuries of history (and is still very well preserved). Here you can find carpets of the different Iranian "schools", of different sizes, materials, subjects, dimensions, in a kind of "anthology" of what the art of weaving has been able to express in recent centuries.
