Hasht Behesht Palace, Isfahan

4.4
Landmark · Tourist Spot
Part of the national heritage, Hasht Behesht Palace represents the city's only surviving palace from the Safavid era. Surrounded by a lush flower garden--which doubles as a public park--the octagonal mansion dates from around 1080 and served as a residence of one of the last Safavid princesses. Enter to see the interior: though in dire condition, it still features elaborate stucco work, as well as ceiling and wall paintings. Notice the marble pool, called the "pearl pond," under the central dome, which retains fragments of its original mosaic.
