Buda Castle, Budapest

World heritage site · Castle · Tourist Spot
At World Heritage Site Buda Castle, you'll encounter medieval architecture, lush gardens, and centuries of royal Hungarian and Austro-Hungarian history. Though Nazis stole the palace's luxurious room exhibits in the 1940s, the building is still home to the Hungarian National Gallery, which holds significant collections of Hungarian art. It is also the site of the Budapest History Museum and National Szechenyi Library. This 13th-century structure has been renovated and modernized after it was nearly destroyed in World War II. Explore the surrounding neighborhood, known as the Castle District, which is celebrated for its historic houses, churches, and public buildings. • Love the view up there! Prepare for a good climb. Although you can use the funicular to go up. There's also an elevator at the beginning halfway through and lift as well. It was Easter Monday when I went plenty of activities and farm animals like alpacas! Anyway, it was good to go.
  • The Buda Castle is an amazing place to visit. It's a walking distance from the Fisherman's Bastion which is also a fabulous sight to behold. You can get a great view/snap shot of the city including the Parliament building, the Danube chain bridge and the Budapest eye. I and my friends had a great time sight seeing and taking cool pictures here.
