Trip Planner: Europe / Holland / South Holland Province / The Hague / Binnenhof & Ridderzaal (Inner Court & Hall of the Knights)
Visit the historic and current center of Dutch political life at Binnenhof & Ridderzaal (Inner Court & Hall of the Knights). The 13th-century Gothic castle was originally the seat of the counts of Holland, and it later served as the main government building of the Dutch Republic. Today, the castle is home to the upper and lower houses of the parliament, as well as the prime minister's office. The central building of the castle represents the magnificent grand hall, with a throne from which the Dutch monarch delivers the parliament's opening speech. Go on a guided tour of the castle, learn about its history, admire the architecture, and use the opportunity to watch the parliament in session. Occasionally parts of the building may be inaccessible due to important political activities. A visit to Binnenhof & Ridderzaal (Inner Court & Hall of the Knights) represents just the start of the adventure when you use our The Hague online route planner to plot your vacation.

Binnenhof & Ridderzaal (Inner Court & Hall of the Knights) Reviews
Hier moet het gebeuren, het bestuurlijk hart van ons land. Van de gebouwen straalt het in ieder geval niet af. Zuunig. Je moet er toch doorheen gelopen zijn. more »This is where it has to be done, the administrative heart of our country. At least it doesn't exude from the buildings. It's zuunig. You must have walked through it anyway.
Unser Fremdenführer erklärte uns alles über den Bau.Und natürlich gab es auch die Anekdoten zur Rede, welche die Königin ,jetzt ja der König verpflichtet ist zu halten. Was auffiel es waren Polizisten ... more »Our guide explained everything about the building. And of course there were also the anecdotes about the speech, which the Queen is obliged to keep now the king. What stood out were police officers on the spot, but everything was very unexcited and so one or the other minister or cabinet member came by on foot with a security officer past our group. Just nice, who has the opportunity should visit it.
Beautiful center of parliament! The fountain is fabulous. There is a lot of architecture to admire here, but there is not much more to do. It is nice to see a rather strong sense of security here to protect the area. Take a walk through here and enjoy the structures. Nice way to warm up to Mauritshuis, since it is right next door.
Government buildings are normally quite foreboding but the Binnenhof & Ridderzaal in The Hague prove this wrong. An impressive array of buildings around a large courtyard with a fountain alongside softens the look and is interesting. Its location right next to the Mauritshaus makes it convenient for a visit. As the center of Government of the Netherlands it is surprising how easy it is to visit. Be sure to go into the courtyard to see the historic buildings and the pretty fountain.
