Emperor's Canal (Keizersgracht) Reviews
Questo canale prende il nome da Massimiliano I d' Austria, Imperatore del Sacro Romano Impero e, con i suoi 31 metri, è il piu' largo fra i canali che compongono la Cerchia dei Canali, Patrimonio Unes... more »This canal is named after Maximilian I of Austria, Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire and, at 31 meters, is the widest of the canals that make up the Circle of Channels, Unesco Heritage. Built from 1612, it is located between the Prinsengracht and Herengracht, along its banks you can admire buildings dating back to the golden century. It is very characteristic and animated, it is very nice to walk on its banks without a precise destination, to observe the elegant mansions that have on the facade of the stone planks in which the name of the owner and the date of construction is engraved. The different tonalities of the masonry works and the irregular roofs give each house a special aspect. Amsterdam is truly a very charming city, and its canals offer a relaxing and romantic atmosphere.

Enjoy the canal and its beauty by foot. Alternative through the canal cruises but walk on a pleasant evening is the best.
