Calle de Las Damas, Santo Domingo

Amble down Calle de Las Damas, a historic thoroughfare said to be the oldest street in the New World. The colonial residences that line the street have been converted into cultural attractions and accommodations, including upscale hotels, museums, and governmental buildings. Translating as "Ladies' Street," the road got its current name when several important noblewomen moved to the city and would walk down the street of an evening. Its architectural highlights and the main plaza have been UNESCO-listed to protect the whole of the downtown colonial area. • Full of history, wider than most XVI century European street, great experience. For me, the most beatiful street in Santo Domingo.  more »
  • Very nice all around the colonial zone, very nice to walk around and enjoy part of our story, is very clean and well kept, come and visit something more than beach and sand :)  more »
