Bronebashennaya beregovaya batareya №35, Sevastopol

#3 of 16 in Museums in Sevastopol
Dating back to 1913, features the ruins of one of the most modern and largest fortifications in the region from World War II. Today it displays weapons, soldiers' chambers, and memorabilia. This garrison was highly sophisticated for its time, armed with 400-500 men and two guns, which shot 471 kg (1,038 lb) shells up to 42 km (26 mi). Visit the memorial complex at the site to see the hospital rooms where wounded soldiers were treated, dark humid bedrooms, and war tunnels, all covered in broken concrete pieces and deformed metal. You'll see exhibits of photographs, as well as installations that depict the atmosphere of this place. • For me it was the most difficult excursion, emotionally and energetically very heavy. Do I regret that I went, no, no and No. I'll go again, I don't know, too hard. There is so much blood and pain on these stones... It is a monument to people who believed to the end and fought to the end in the Great Patriotic War, but also it is a monument to those who on own money, own hands created this memorial in those years when it was "not fashionable", is not recommended by the authorities. One thing is that now the memorial is not contained on the state money, that this is the only place where there is no entrance fee (but you can leave a voluntary donation) is the best recommendation to these people. Children under 12 years are not allowed, probably it is correct, but the best lesson of patriotism (not to the government, people) I have not seen.

  • One of the places in Sevastopol which should be visited. Good guides that create the right atmosphere of the tour. This place is not for jokes and laughter. A lot of historical information, not only about the battery, but also the people of Sevastopol. Worth a visit with the kids to know the history. It is not so gloomy and damp as in Adzhimushkaye. My child of 8 years looked and Adzhimushkai and the battery, so do not panic when the tour guide warns about the complexities of the tour route. Very impressed the place of memory, which lists the names of the victims in Sevastopol. Tears in my eyes. Visit necessarily. You need to buy tickets in the morning. The tickets are gone after lunch.
