Baines Baobabs, Nxai Pan National Park

#2 of 10 in Nature in Botswana
Visit a millennia-old baobab forest, named after the man who discovered and portrayed them in a famous canvas painting, at Baines Baobabs. The distinctive baobab trees here attract many visitors, who come here to enjoy one of the undisputed wilderness highlights of Botswana. Take a trail used by the area's first two European explorers when they journeyed through Africa’s interior. The risky journey, which lasted for two years, is now easily managed with four-wheel-drives instead of ox wagons. When you spot the famous baobabs, take a photo and compare it to the iconic painting--only one branch has broken off in almost 150 years.
