Look for traditional souvenirs at Botswanacraft, the capital's biggest handicraft emporium. Choose from a variety of weavings, pottery, baskets, and wood carvings. Pause to notice a metal sculptural installation depicting a family of zebras outside the shop next to the road. Founded in 1970 with the aim to boost the rural handicraft industry, the company today directly employs more than 40 local artisans and imports wooden masks, jewelry, and textiles from developing countries of southern Africa, including Mali and Congo. Taste some of the traditional Tswana dishes at a courtyard restaurant. To visit Botswanacraft on your trip to Gaborone, use our Gaborone online vacation planner.
